It’s not often that a fashion trend remains a big theme for more than one season. Graphic black and white was everywhere last summer, and continued through autumn. This season, the classic combo is back: all over menswear in spots and zigzags, and in womenswear in the form of Op-Art patterns and oversized stripes, contrasted with splashes of primary brights. On a softer note, lace, tulle and sheer layers are giving a more feminine slant to women’s day- and eveningwear.
Talking of brights, Harrods new Home floors are showcasing kitchen and interiors accessories in a rainbow of shades. And this issue also features an interview with innovative glass sculptor Dale Chihuly. Meanwhile, this season’s catwalk beauty looks saw a dramatic return to colour, as highly pigmented shades provided the perfect foil for monochrome. Conversely, there’s also the option of monochrome make-up. Is there a pattern emerging?
