Roberto Cavalli was thinking of his beloved home city when he named his latest bag “Florence”. The connection stops there, however. The only thing traditional about this new bag is the old-fashioned skill with which it has been constructed; the rest of the story is a thoroughly modern one. A slouchy style that sits up rather proudly in stiffer leathers, the “Florence” is designed for a working woman who likes to carry her life around with her. Built to withstand the hurly-burly of a contemporary lifestyle, the “Florence” just gets better the more you use it. And Cavalli hasn’t forgotten the signature snakeskin print, which appears engraved on the bag. Price on application; exclusive to Harrods. Available from International Designer Room, First Floor

The art of creating a precisely right cashmere scarf is an inexact one. Not only
is there the length and width to consider, there’s also weight, sheerness and shade. It takes a scarf connoisseur to master all of the above, and Dianora Salviati can count herself among a select group. So efficiently does she reach scarf perfection that even Tomas Maier, the king of stealth wealth, has collaborated with her. The spring collection is a dream of lightweight cashmere in saturated pastels. £255. Available from Scarves, Gloves & Hats, Ground Floor

There’s always been something swashbucklingly adventurous about Moschino’s collections. The label’s founder, Franco Moschino, was famed for his flamboyant, irreverently witty designs, and a show rarely passed without a raised eyebrow and a half smile. This season, Creative Director Rossella Jardini has revisited Franco’s matador looks with a collection inspired by the wide-shouldered, narrow-hipped torero sihouette. Elegant lace jackets, heavily embroidered with fine gold threads, have a theatrical appeal when worn with lean trousers and crisp white shirts. Out of context, these jackets make a classic pairing with an LBD. Jacket £1,725. Available from Designer Collections, First Floor
Some cleverness is afoot at Audemars Piguet. The new Calibre 4101 Millenary is built so that the complicated bits that usually sit at the back of a watch are on display at the front. The regulating organ, for example, has pride of place at nine o’clock, showing off its inertia blocks, cross-through bridge, lever and escape wheel. The bridges that hold various parts in place have been given an additional aesthetic role, decorated with horizontal Côtes de Genève. Developed and produced in-house, Audemars Piguet is proud of its latest creation,
while watch connoisseurs are fascinated by the sophisticated technology. £21,280. Available from The Fine Watch Room, Ground Floor
